Can a coin develop artificial toning after it's been TPG encapsulated? Buy the coin and not the holder?

yes it can, there are some people that has done it successfully by injecting sulfur smoke into the slab because they aren't air tight. The older PCGS slabs are the easiest from what I have heard. There was a seller on ebay that made allot of money doing just that until he got busted doing it and he finally confessed to AT the coins inside the slabs on a big coin forum

Quote: I was just about to post about that MOC guy on the PCGS boards.. Yep that is exactly who I was talking about. He successfully toned quite a bit of coins in older PCGS slabs and sold them on ebay and made a large sum of money. The thing that struck me as weird is this guy is a doctor and supposed to be quite a successful one at that and didn't need the money, he was just doing it to see if he could fool others and to ride the market trend into the ground
