So as to not leave you folks hanging regarding
my issues with the guy who sold me a fake Morgan,
here's where I stand.

Because I was stupid enough to be one of his
victims, I trusted him to refund my money once
I returned the fake coin. Unfortunately, I only
returned it regular mail with no proof of delivery.
Once it arrived, he denied ever recieving it, but
by that time, I had pretty much given up hope of
getting my money back.

A few days later, Paypal contacted him about my
complaint. In his reply to Paypal, he told them
that I had sold the coin, that he didn't have it
and he added a few more lies about me as a buyer.
I then decided to ramp up my complaints, not just
regarding a refund, but because he continues to sell
fakes to other unsuspecting ebay buyers, some sold
for up to $120. I've called and written paypal a
couple of times, reminding them of this person's
pattern, his neg feedback and anything else I had for
info. Paypal pretty much told me that, without my
having the coin for proof, I'd probably lose the refund
dispute, which is what I expect to occur.

The guy's added on lies about me got me to the point of
now just wanting to shut him down, refund or not.
I contacted ebay again, but decided I needed extra help,
so I wrote one of his neg feedback buyers who also
bought one of his fakes. This other buyer has also written
ebay and complained of fakes being sold, but he no longer
has the fake either..same scenario as me. Along with him,
I've written ebay probably 10 or 12 times, each reminding
them of the continuing sale of fakes, sending them every
email to me,his neg feedback, the list number of each fake,
sold or current and even responses from this site regarding
these fakes. I've wanted to write even more buyers from his
neg feedback because I needed help in trying to prove the
sale of these coins, but have yet to do so.

I've watched his ongoing sales, as well as previous sales, but each
buyer of these fakes appear to be new ebayers with low feedbacks of
50 to 100 and I figure they might even like the jerk and feel he
gave them great deals, going by their pos feedback to him and I didn't want one of those "newbies" possibly contacting the fake seller about me or what I was trying to do in getting ebay to close him down.

As it stands now, Paypal is expected to come back within a week
to decide the refund complaint, but I expect to lose that case.
ebay tells me in several of their "responses"..you know.."thanks
for writing us, yada yada"..they expect to render a decision by
March 5th. ebay is probably my only hope to gain some satisfaction.

Totally Unrelated to my complaints against this person, I may very
well end up in the hospital for a personal health matter,
so unless ebay acts or another scammed buyer steps forward, I'll
just have to wait this out and take future measures to protect myself from other sellers like this.

I haven't given up, but what burns me is how this guy continues
to get away with scamming other buyers. For your info, unless you wish to read my intial "FAKE MORGAN" subject line on this site, the seller is 2176ray.

However this ends, I still need to thank all of you for your past
assistance and advice.

I just noticed, in reading replys from my original post, that coffeegod
did contact the seller and that the seller has removed all the fake listings.
I still have all those fake listing numbers that I sent to ebay and Paypal
a few days ago. I may not win my case, but if coffeegod assisted in
getting those listings removed, I/we all won by protecting future buyers
from this seller. THANKS ERIC!! That was a big help!! I'm sure that 2176ray's
reply to you was his usual incoherant rant.

This is what I posted at the end of your oiginal topic.

After several persuading talks with the seller..... If you'll notice, his bogus listings were removed. I have a sort of threat that was emailed to me do to his loss, though if it continues, the authorities will be notified. Just to let you know, that the current listing appears resolved, until he tries to list them under another name.

We must've posted our comments @ the same time.

Hey.... when it comes to collecting & making sure that we get what we're looking for; we need to attempt to eliminate those trying to make a quick buck on what should be a moderately peaceful & harmless hobby.

You erred badly in not having delivery confirmation when you returned the coin. About your only hope now is if he makes the blunder of reselling the "coin that was never returned" and you can prove it by pointing out identical features on the coin from both auctions. But if he waits until after the Paypal decision you're going to be out of luck there as well.

I don't believe he erred badly. I believe that this is an ongoing learning experience for both the amateur and the experienced. This is going to be a very long process that's going to be enhanced more & more from the counterfeiters. We are going to have to keep a keen eye out for these bungholes . It's going to be a long trial and error process. The more & more we educate, the less & less bogus coins will be kept. jnm444 asked for our assistance in identification & solutions. No comment was mad to confirm delivery. It's just like the saying, "out of site, out of mind". If we don't think about it at first....... probably not gonna get done. I think EVERYONE contributed very well in resolving this issue & raising the radar for any future episodes similar to this one. Everyone needs to pat themselves on the back.

Hi again. Responding to a few of your recent comments, yeh, I did screw up on returning the coin w/o proof of delivery..the guy did to me what he did to many others..be was really nice,(righhhht) "promised" full refund, etc. As for the refund, sure I'd like to have it, but I'm just focusing on the big picture now...stopping him from selling to other unsuspecting buyers.
Prior to running across this guy's listings, I usually just seek out merchants on my faves list to buy from them. This was a one time mistake on my part and I've learned a lot from my mistake. I've now got more help regarding this yo-yo and due to other efforts and assistance, I might have good news soon. I'll post here how it all ends.
Continued thanks to everyone here. (PS...havent had my medical stuff yet..I'm chicken,).

I had a similar situation on ebay. Unfortunately, ebay does not want to do anything about it. These sellers are criminals that belong in prison. They have found a way to infiltrate our hobby, hijack it with fakes, and reach out to the ignorant buyer as they run laughing to the bank. Their luck will run out someday. I see it all the time.

Obviously this is a person who hides behind his computer, doing whatever he wants. I'm sorry that coffeegod was on the recieving end of
his rant and veiled threat, but glad Erik called him out on the fakes.
As I mentioned, I'm getting some great help on pursuing these issues and
hope ebay acts this time. I've dug up a lot of info of his transactions,
but I'm just being patient in divulging this to the right people at the
proper time. I'll post here as this claim winds down.

Just say no to ebay. Nothing but trouble in my opinion. There is no coin I need badly enough without seeing in person.

Are guy just didn't get the clue from me. He listed some more obvious fake Morgans & so I watched them & contacted each buyer over the last week & a half. I told them about the situation & to have them weighed & cross examined with other Morgans. I just had my first response & expect others. Here's one.

"I had them checked, they are FAKE/COUNTERFIET, a well known Coin dealer verified weight, under 26 grams etc. I have sent them back, for credit."

I'm glad you guys blew this in. I hate people that sell fakes and run other scams on ebay, as a collector and a sometime ebay seller. People like him make us all look bad, and some of us aren't.

Hi all,
Thanks for exposing this guy. If it stops even one person from getting ripped off it's worth it.

I have found this site to be helpful, while not perfect they do SHOW the difference between real and fake.
