A friend gave me this coin, which looks like it was intended to be a 25c token, counterstamped long ago--judging by the style of the stamp. Has anyone seen something similar? They sure stamped that "5" a few times.

Yeah! interesting for sure, I would guess someone ground off the ONE, and repunched the 25 somehow.

it must be a ONE cent any other case must be written with a 'S' (CENTS)
its a regular grammar rule (ohoh !)
if only it wasn't punched it was been a nice piece

Hi snaz, been a long time! BTW, would that cent be in the "basics" book? I got one, not long ago, and never seem to remember having it. It does have a lot of varieties listed. Are you sure it is large date, and large leaves? It has a nice value in MS63: $1,150.00 Dick

Hmm, I'm not sure where you got that price from Dick, what is your guide called? there are 2 large date varietys and both of them are fairly inexpensive. It's the small date ones you've gotta watch for ;) Dick, do you have a trends guide? You live in the states right? I could mail you a Canadian trends price guide if you'd like.

That link is the english forum for Numiscan.com, the french language forum. SNAZ, the book is the 2009 "Price guide foe Canadian coins, Basic Edition., By Michael K. Blais. It has MANY unknown varieties in it, along with the values in Canadian Dollars. It is from "Bookstore Publishing. https://www.bookstorepublishing.com. Thanks dor the offer, but I have a subscription to the Canadian News. I was luck when it started, because the first of several articles by John Regitko on errors, and varieties, started with the first issue. he book is well worth the money I paid, (not expensive, unless one goes for the professional version). Just noticed I hit the 1001 mark! Drinks on the house! No "card check", for this occasion. I forgot to mention that I am a member of both forums. Dick
