Hello Experts! I received this note yesterday. It's a 2006 US $1 star note. I was googling the serial number to check for rarity, when the search came back with an error. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the serial numbers do not match. Any input on value would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Here is an almost exact note from the same range. https://www.ebay.com/itm/134355113522Not sold yet it's been listed a few times so likely a bit less than that amount. One more this one has a tear from a 2013 thread: http s://www.cointalk.com/threads/2006-1-mismatched-serial-number.238403/ My best guess is around $1500 - $2000 retail or at an auction where a couple bidders are vying to win it, otherwise around $1000 - $1500 but not under $1000.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
I have never seen a similar error before. I am not surprised that Notes such as this can command values in the $1,000 to $2,000 range.

Super Cool Note Banknotes typically have two serial numbers. A mismatch in these numbers can occur by manual error or mechanical error. Under a manual error, the person operating the printing equipment fails to set the same sequence on both number wheels before printing begins. When Mismatched Serial Numbers have the discrepancy near the beginning of the number, this is due to manual error. Collectors and dealers who have error notes can submit them to PMG for certification under an applicable grading tier with "error" or the specific error noted under the Variety/Pedigree column on the submission form. There is no additional fee for this service. Value is worthwhile to do so.
