Is there a way you can see how many coins have been graded at a certain grade?
Thanks

The only way is to check the population reports put out by the major third party grading services.

Not really. You should realize that many people have a coin that was graded and break it out, send it for grading again. Then of course there are now many, many grading services. Not sure how many keep records. And of course how many were misgraded. Would take a lot of research and possibly not good results.

Like Carl says, it wont be 100% accurate but it would give you a close number to go off of. I believe you need to be a member of PCGS/NGC in order to see those numbers.

the reason I ask is I have seen how some coins jump in price tremendously from one grade to the next and others jump very little. I was just wondering if this was because there was alot fewer coins in that grade.

Generally speaking yes, the reason there is sometimes a tremendous increase in price from one grade to the next is because a coin in that next grade higher is harder to find. This typically occurs in the MS range and known as a conditional rarity.

So stumpy now that you've asked the same question on lots of coin forums, what did you learn?

Carl what is your problem? Just like I said in my other post where you posted rude comments, I posted in 2 (not lots, because I only know about 2, but if anyone wants to recommend any others that would be great) forums because I wanted a quick answer. The more exposure that I get to my question, the faster I get an answer. It is wrong for me to post a question in 2 different forums, but it is ok to go on someones post and post immature comments like you did? Get a life Carl instead of patrolling around here like you are the internet police or something...haha.

He's not the police around here. I am. This is not the kind of forum we run around here, gentlemen. Carl's remark was uncalled-for, but stumpy you must understand that asking the same question across multiple forums is looked at rather like spamming. Knowing that you're going to our competitors, asking the same things, makes me much less motivated to give you an answer myself.

I suspect you easily missunderstand things. Like I said, what did you learn? If you did find out some statistics about your question, you should share with others. My question was as simple as that. Don't see how you could understand anything else.

This shows everyone how easily things can be misconstrued without voice inflection. In all honesty Carl, I thought you were being a smart aleck as well. Now that I reread your post, and your subsequent follow up, I realize that you were genuinely asking how he made out with information. As it is, we would all like to find information on population reports, especially if this info is available without paying for services. Mark this one up to people reading and writing things without realizing how that can be taken.
