Looks like some kind of substance on obverse of coin the reverse may have a pre Cud on right wheat ear pitchers are not quite clear enough to say for sure

Suggest giving the coin a looooooong soak in 100% acetone. Could go a long way in clearing away any 'gunk' which may be present.

Circulation residue, not worth the effort of conservation, these are very inexpensive in MS red.

Acetone cleared out some gunk.
I was thinking the black "splotching" might be from being in a fire.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
