I received this little gem when I was 11 years old. I had opened my first savings account and this was a gift from the S&L

I kept her in a tiny, plastic box with all of my other treasures...hence, the marks on her face. At the time, I didn't know how to store coins or why.

When I came to Australia as an 11 year old, I had no coins or any interest in collecting them. We stayed in a hostel, while we got organised and found a home to live in. One day while running through the bush on the hostel site, I tripped on a rock, so I stopped to see what I had tripped on and the rock had flipped over, and underneath were a whole heap of old Aussie pennies and half pennies. Thus started my coin collection. Here is just one of those coins, but has been cleaned, as I didn't know any better....

I was given a few coins that started my collection in the US. But I can't really say which was the first coin I purchased, but am pretty certain it was one of the below.

I would like to merge this topic with the one from CarrsCoins and call it "Post Your First Collected or Purchased Coin" if that is okay with dsking and CarrsCoins.
