For me, it's a 1944D Walking Liberty. Every year for Easter I get 3-4 rolls of half dollars to put in our eggs for our family egg hunt.

1911 Barber dime found CRH in the 1990s. Well worn, but still precious. She sits in my 7070.

Quote: , dirtfishing a farmyard in lower Michigan. Is "dirtfishing" using a metal detector? Also very nice 1903 Indian cent.

That's like finding a 1963 Lincoln today! Our minds get confused by type changes when age at find is all that really matters. My record is a 1910 Lincoln found in 2022 at age 112. That's "older" than any IHC I found as a kid in the 1960s-1970s.

Perhaps I am too easily impressed. Quote: Our minds get confused by type changes when age at find is all that really matters. My 1911 Barber dime was found in 1993. That means the 1941 Wheat cent and nickel finds today are its equal. And I agree! The only currency circulating in 1723 where I live was wampum and animal pelts. (no permanent settlement until 1803). When I think back to my early collecting days as a kid, there were plenty of Buffalo nickels, Mercs, SLQs and Walkers in circulation. IHCs showed up, but not often, V nickels and Barber dimes occasionally. But I am sure I never found an IHC over 100 years old at the time of find, and none of those other types were 100 yrs old yet when I was a kid.

I found an 1891 Indian Head cent coin roll hunting earlier this year or maybe late last year. My second oldest is a 1901 Indian Head cent found in the same batch of customer rolls.
