Ok, this contest is fairly simple. All you have to do is to post a picture of your best coin and what it is and how old it is and how you got it.these will play apart in the winner. After one week I will announce the winner. Every day I will tell you who is in the lead.

Rules: Only one entrance per day. You must show a picture and an explanation of how you acquired it.

Prize: 1898 Indian 1 cent VF and (that's right, theirs two prizes) 1 japanese yen. The Indian does not have any fancy PCGS (never use the company) package. It's just one of those white cardboard plastic packages. Ya' see I just found (beleive it or not) in my pocket change last week. And the yen was with a set of five given to me. That has the same type package.

Well the prizes aren't that spectacular but a least you can show off your coins

Well so far with only one entrance you're in the lead. You have two dates up there, when was THIS one minted?

This was a wedding present to me and my wife from a very close friend of my family.
We just had our 4 year anniversary last Thursday so it feels like the appropriate entry.

Well mine is easy. I recently bought (cherry picked)
this for under $10.00 shipped.
Key words were silver alloy, which is off the wall so most people didn't find it.
Turns out, I got one of the nicest
1942 P TY 2 Jefferson Proof Nickels I've seen in person outside of a slab.

This is my best coin and I got it with the help of a very good friend Daven from CCF. This coin means so much for me as Daven got out of his way just to get this for me and this will be part of my future Dansco album 7070 that will commemorate my father and his WWII best friend and how I started collecting US coins.

Thanks Daven for everything.

This is the story behind it:

If you really want it..

This was acquired by a person in my family as an "investment" for about 5x face at the local bank. Years passed and the value wasn't moving or increased by a fraction. Finally the price of these coins skyrocketed (doubled, in case of some others tripled) - precisely the year that person died. That's the story. There are several of those coins. They're still in the box they were 10 years ago.

I don't collect proofs. The supposedly "best" coins that I have aren't part of my collection.

This is one of my best raw Morgans. Picked it up on E-bay. It dates 1878 S, mint in San Francisco & she is 131 years of age. If you ask me she aged very well.
