I thought I would post another of my purchases from the Calgary Coin Show on March 4, 2023. I have been wanting to purchase this variety/error for a while now and when I found it at the show, I decided to pull the trigger.

There are varying degrees of how much of the missing circle is showing on this variety. A full missing circle will garner a premium over a partial missing circle and in some cases there are two missing circles showing.

Anybody else have an missing circle note that they would like to share?

If you are looking to collect all of the different types of missing circles there should be 3 types.

1 Missing Circle FEB-FEE(2001)
2 Missing Circles FEB-FEE(2001)
1 Missing Circle FEE(2002), FEF-FEN(2002)

I have not seen a note with 2 Missing Circles dated 2002.

Not that I am aware of. However, the Charlton Stanadard Catalogue of Canadian Government Paper Money shows pictures of both the one circle and two circle varieties.

For someone who doesn't know Canadian currency what would I be looking at/or not seeing on the example that defines a "missing circle" note?

Just a caution of collectors of minor varieties of both coins and currency, sometimes dies and printing plates just wear out during the manufacturing process. How many times does your collecting friends ask for a small B or missing circle note ?

@smuglr On the left hand side beside MacDonald there is the white and orange section with a variety of shapes. Inside the larger circles they all have smaller circles as well except for the very bottom left one that has no smaller circle inside it. That is what is missing on the note pictured above. It's a variety with enough produced that people collect them as error banknotes. :)

Very true! The missing circle variety is a minor variety, but it is referenced in the Charlton catalogue and most, if not all of the major grading companies are using the missing circle designation when applicable.

I ended up getting this note graded. It has some slight creasing in the top left hand corner of the front of the note which pulled the grade down.
