I'm getting mixed answers while researching this 1926 D Penny I'm not sure I'd this is environmental damage or if this happend during the production of the Penny itself. I've researched the types of errors ir could be watched some interesting videos that showed explanations of difference between two. Any Ideas or helpful links to research this type of error would be appreciated. I am learning and constructive criticism is a great thing to learn from but I ask that tou please do not put me down for not knowing the information. I am trying to get more familiar with the terms and definitions there's a lot to learn. Thank You very much in advance for your time and efforts.

I don't know that I see anything (at least with these pics), that would leave me to believe it was environmental damage but definitely PMD. This did not happen at the mint. By the way, to the forum!

No error, just damage. Early stage parking lot coin perhaps. For future reference, post a full obverse and reverse picture of the coin.

Just damage, there is nothing in the minting process that would cause that to happen to the rims. Teach yourself how coins are struck at the mint (many forums available) and then you would know that this could not happen. Also suggest learning what an actual error is by reading up on sites as error-ref.com

to the CCF I see nothing but damage. Quote: please do not put me down for not knowing the information Rest assured - That would never happen at our family friendly CCF forum. We welcome new folks to the community and if there are ever any 'bad actors' they are quickly dealt with to restore a polite order to our interactions. Ask away any of your questions and we will try to help.

to the CCF and PMD. This is a great site. Use the search tab. There is a lot of information there. One thing to learn is, whenever you have a divot, gouge, or scratch on a coin that has a corresponding buildup on the surface, 99.9% of the time it's damage.

This it is a circulation damage. The only criticism is for the mint that they push in the wild this coin to be damaged. I will keep till find a better one. Still be an RB from 28 mill struck and at least 22 mill destroyed.
