This coin has mirrored fields that are getting washed out when I take photos. Any thoughts on how to prevent this.

I assume it has everything to do with the position of the light.

A Cannon A95 camera. I think the problem is I'm trying to take the picture through a 2x2. Here's another try:

I went out and bought a cheap circular fluorescent ceiling fixture, and cut a hole in the center through which the lens fit:

Although it brings out details nicely, it doesn't do very well with luster:

Another possibility is axial lighting - check out this forum and Google for how to create an axial lighting setup. You can vary the angle of the glass, and get either the black/white look of my pic above, or a white field.
