To Check Or Not To Check The PCGS Variety Attrib Box: 1837 Small Date H10c No Stars

I noticed that the variety for this coin is the small date while the normal coin is a large date type. If I submit to PCGS 'without' checking the variety attribution box, should the slab come back labeled with a 'small date' designation written on the slab?

The price difference is negligible between the two types. I did not see the need to pay the attrib. fees without realizing any meaningful ROI for the $ 20 attrib. fee.

Any thoughts.

Can't you just use the Coin # for the variety and wing it in the description?
