There is no manufacturer's sticker price, suggested retail price, etc on coins. If a price guide says a coin is worth $10 but you can only sell or buy one for $1, then it is worth $1. Examples are the Red Book, PCGS web site, miscellaneous web sites and or magazines. Usually those are all just guesses. Dealers like to use the grey sheet and as a rule that is sort of an accurate price guide but that to is vague when it comes to buying and selling. So again if you go to ebay and see a coin you want to know the value of just wait for the final sale. That is what it is worth. Report this Post to the Staff

The best guide in my opinion is e-bay's closed auctions (be sure to factor in shipping fees since in some cases a $6 shipping charge will be a significant percent of the overall price paid). Also, for higher-end coins look at Heritage (ha.com) which has over a decade worth of archived auctions and final prices realized. Registration is free and the pictures are great.
