Please let me know if you think it's a spender, I think I might keep it either way but I really appreciate this community's input. I've used this wonderful website for a few years now but this is my first post. Everyone that I have seen respond to posts are so helpful and I am grateful to be a part of this great community. That is either some crazy powerful Die Deterioration Doubling, or you've got a little action on this coin. I,T in United. S,T,E,S in States. O,F in Of. The tips of the leaves left. Top edges of the leaves right. E,B in EPU. O in One. D in Dime. The letters are getting puffy and the devices are fading, so this is obviously a later die state. DDD is softening, but it's a little unusual that most of the ghosts are aligned in the upwards direction. Although I guess a directional effect could be generated by heavy die polishing. I'm trying to get better at photographing coins before I post more curiosities that I have come across. As far as my limited knowledge goes, I don't believe I have a valuable dime here but if I did find something valuable what is the best way to have it appraised? The chances are slim that you will find a coin in circulation, or roll searching. They are found. Most believe the coin has to be $150.00 before it would be slabbed. Or if it has sentimental value.
