Hey you guys, I just kind of wanted an opinion of what you think about this. I collect colorful rainbow-colored pennies because they're the most beautiful in my opinion. Anyway, let me know what you think of this one and what would one charge for something like this on ebay

Rinse it with distilled water to see if this toning remains.

Sorry, but that surely looks like artificial toning, like someone took a torch to it.

That rainbow toning reminds me of the video posted here on the forum showing how to create such effects (video removed and poster banished).

Congrats on your coin.
Not for everyone but there are plenty of folks who do like this type of color. They sell online every day.

I would still like to see it pass the distilled water or acetone test. That would rule out the simplest types of artificial toning.

Aren 't all these tinting artificial on modern coins ? I am especially struck by the very bright rainbow patinas on the proof coins.

Here is another of the obverse And just for the record, I am a female, I identify as a female I was born a female I will always be a female. It's a shame that I have to explain my gender in such away these days lol & I know there's a possibility that it's been altered in someway but it's so pretty the pictures don't do it justice. I tweeked the saturation and contrast just a little bit so that it resembled what the coin actually looks like so you can get a full experience. I did rinse it in distilled water and I always clean with 91% ISO and anhydrous acetone. What was weird about this is that when I used my cloth to polish my fingerprints off it looked like it dulled the color, so I was obviously a little bit upset. I rinsed it with water again and the color came right back. I've had this happen on a few that I've collected, and all I collect is pre-shield Lincoln cents that are unique and have a rainbow tones. I have some purple ones and some pink ones too. The reason that I took that picture at an angle was because I wanted to show how shiny and lustrous it is it's very shiny. It looks to me like a laminating mishap rather than an altercation though, but I don't know near as much .The reason that I took that picture at an angle was because I wanted to show how shiny and lustrous it is it's very shiny. It looks to me like a laminating mishap rather than a altercation though, but I don't know near as much as you guys know so I could be completely wrong This picture doesn't want to come through, so I'm going to include my iCloud photos link with a shared folder of the Coin and several pictures https://share.icloud.com/photos/0e2...RKHL1Mkjti6ALet me know what you guys think if you think it's altered or if it's just oxidation, the upper side looks as if it's almost camouflage pattern . it's speckled

The coin is artificially toned - beyond doubt. Quote: And just for the record, I am a female, I identify as a female I was born a female I will always be a female. It's a shame that I have to explain my gender in such away these days Reading back through the entire thread, I see NO mention of gender anywhere. Why are you bringing this up? I don't care if you're a six-legged aardvark - all I'm interested in is the coin you're showing.

Subseven7, to CCF. I also do not understand your comment on your gender? As to your coin,it is for sure artificial toning( AT). As to value, what ever you can get for it. I personaly see no added value to an AT coin. Looks like you will need to work on taking better photos. The better the pics you post the better we can help you. One full coin pic front and back..straight on and one or two close ups where and when needed. Most of us encourage members to collect what they like. John1
