I am starting a new thread on this variety of counterfeit. I believe each variety of "counterfeit" toonie should have its own thread as (I believe) there are huge differences not only in looks of the fakes but also the intentions of them. The "Montreal Mint" and "Camel Toe" examples were done to deceive and defraud the people and Gov't of Canada. The "Z Dollard" and now the "Double Canada" were not. The changes to the dies by the manufacturers (in my opinion) were designed as novelties. It is the secondary sellers who see an opportunity to take advantage of an easy profit as is the case of the latter two variety's. There are over 10k unaccounted for examples from the Quebec bust alone somewhere....likely in circulation. There is a potential for many more to be out there. I am attempting to get some from China. I hope this group (CCF members) will continually check for these and pass on any information and findings. Please remember, these are just the obvious differences between the "Double Canada" and a real one. MM

Are many of these being found in circulation?

I have heard only of the "example" from the Sault Saint Marie post by proof nut. I was blindsided by the CBSA picture release on Tuesday. I was told they were "camel toes". No education by the Gov't agencies is of a big concern I think.

I searched seven rolls of toonies today and no fakes of any type.

The Camel Toe Toonies website ( https://cameltoetoonies.ca) has been updated to include the new Double Canada fake toonies along with some recent media coverage. I have yet to see any of these coins first-hand, but I would like to so that I can get some more complete details up on the website. If anyone encounters any of these coins, please contact me through the website. Thank you!

Good to know. I'll try and keep an eye out. I help a bowling league on Sunday where 50-100 twoonies pass by me. I'll reference that site before hand to get up to date. Do they all have that same sheen or is that evolving as well?

All information currently known is based on the couple of news reports and the images contained therein.
For the Double Canada coins, rely on the reverse legend as the tell-tale sign. Other traits should not be relied on.

I wonder if these coins have the edge lettering.

Good question. All of the camel toes I have do not have any lettering, just the serrations. (2002, 2004, 2006, 2010) No "Double Canada:. The serrations are rather weak and sometimes 15 or 16. Try https://cameltoetoonies.ca/ as BWJM suggested. MM, have you found any of these Double Canada's yet?
If they are out there then they are very elusive.
