Be nice please I'm an experienced collector like all of us and know this will never get sa cert probably I just wanted to show some pictures and let it go from there,my thinking is that there was more than 1 penny die they used, they had to they had many dies so this just might be,I DO NOT have a better picture just yet,it's currently in the mail to me,these pictures are from the website so I might be jumping the gun on this one but sure looks correct size and configuration just in a different spot.

First pic is blown up and color enhanced from the original which is the second pic.

Please be nice,I didn't post this claiming it is,just posted it as an interesting find but anyone who says it's impossible is wrong, they used more than 1 die in 1936 and made 750K od these dot's before melting.

Every year, we get 2-3 folks who say nthat they have found a '36 dot, and we have to go over the story again. The dot was PLACED in the die in a specific location by the Mint themselves. The dot was put on the pennies as an interim measure due to George V death and, supposedly, Edward to assume the throne, but he got caught up in the marriage problems with Wallace Simpson and he abdicated the throne, so George VI took over. The dot was also put on the dimes and quarters and issued for circulation. Supposedly, 600+ thousand cents were minted, but only a few (4-5) specimen cents have been located or found. The remainder of the copper cents, again supposedly, were melted and new dies made with the new monarch. Many dimes and quarters are found with the specifically-placed dots, but only the handful of specimen strikes have been found.

Your coin has the dot in a different location from the mint-applied ones. Yours is similar to others that have shown up on this and other sites, with the "dot" in a different place, most due to die chips. The coin being so valuable, many fakes have shown up and I think that is what you have. We used to have one member here who was always finding a new "dot", and I think some years he would find 3-4 "dot" coins that weren't. I forget his name, but old-timers on here will remember him. "Nuf said ... the only '36 dots cents are specimens, not circulation strikes.

I don't agree with you 100% Okiecoiner I'm Canadian too,all I'm saying is that there was just not 1 die remarked with the dot, other dies were marked too and that the 3 known ones all were done with the same die, some may be out there from other dies and you DO NOT have a time machine and YOU cannot say yes or no to that point but is is possible.

Your reply "Every year, we get 2-3 folks who say that they have found a '36 dot, and we have to go over the story again" Your Words exactly like your teaching us something like were children.I even asked people to be nice I just asked a question for god sakes,if you believe all the 750K (it is 750K not 600K) pennies were done with ONE die in a few weeks that's fine believe what ever you want too,the 1943 US cents and the 1944's were all done on many dies,I don't and it's highly unlikely all were done on 1 die.

So just pretend there is no coin I found, answer the question like a researcher not what you think, the mint had lots of coin dies for all denominations, did they just pick 1 die for each and roll out 750K coins on ONE DIE or did they mark them all and do the run ?
