PCGS - United States Bicentennial coinage is heavily collected with survival estimates for the 1976-D Quarter at over 77 million in mint state alone. However, a much scarcer variety of the Bicentennial Quarter exists showing doubling on the obverse.

Love those '76 D DDOs...

One I pulled from circulation and had graded several years ago:

I'm happy to say I have one of those 54 graded at PCGS. Found mine in my change bowl while living on Maui. Not quite a stunner like ijn's but I am strangely proud of the fact that it is the bottom pop at XF-40. I wonder how many crimper machine claws it avoided.

Thanks CCF Press for the thread. Nice examples guys.

I guess I should have been searching for quarters back then instead of celebrating graduating from high school.

Does this quote ring a bell with anyone?
"I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."
(Not numismatic related but very relevant to the year.)

And no, it's not Cheech and Chong. Remember Dave's not there.
