Hello...

I am new to the site, and just got back into buying coins for my Grand kids when I am gone, anyhow back in Jan. I purchased 2009 Lincoln Roll/Rolls from a site called Mike's Coins it was a pre-sale purchase, they took my money from my CC and here it is about 4 mo. later and still no coins, now I realize the rolls sold out at the mint but when I check my order status for my order which says
**NEW** Bank Rolls 2009 BU Lincoln Log Cabin Pennies x1
I assumed meant a roll from the mint, but I guess not since an email I received from them awhile back 3-26-09 stated

"This email is going out to all customers, but only applies to people who bought the 2009 Lincoln Pennies. As you may be aware, the US Mint issued only a limited quantity of these pennies. The mint, like all circulating issues, was supposed to issue boxes through the Federal Reserve and then to member banks. We attempted to first go through our bank, which was promised boxes of these coins, but apparently they were unable to obtain them. Then, we went through the US Mint website directly to purchase them. The Mint apparently canceled our orders, as they apparently did to thousands of other people, and is now sold out of these.

Therefore we are going through private parties to obtain these coins to fill these orders. We have 150 rolls confirmed shipped to us at this point. This won't be enough to cover all of the shipments, so we will be shipping on a first come first serve basis, and will be actively looking for more of these rolls in the next couple of weeks.

In the meantime, if you need to cancel your order, please contact us and we will be glad to give you a refund.

These coins are still selling for as much as $20 a roll on ebay. If you click the below link, it will take to a search page so you can see for yourself. We are committed to making sure you get the coins you ordered at the price you paid. We appreciate your patience and understanding while these delays are occurring.

Mike's Coins"

I actually received the message below on 3-11-09

"Thank you for choosing Mike's Coins!
We have received your payment and are currently
working on your order:

The order will be shipped to

H*** B********
**********
********* PA 17***-****

This shipment will contain the following:

(1) Roll(s) 2009 Lincoln Log Cabin Pennies

If the package was shipped with a USPS tracking number it will appear below. You can check it by clicking the link below or by entering the number at USPS.com. If no tracking number appears the package will be shipped via .regular USPS first class mail.

The package's Delivery Confirmation ID is 420177019101805213907477939519"

When I check the number at USPS it says:
"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on March 11, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. No further information is available for this item."

On 4-14-09 I received this email from Mike's Coins:

"We wanted to give you an update on the Lincoln Log Cabin Penny rolls. This message is going out to all customers whether you bought these or not.

We are pleased to announce that the first shipments of these have left our office yesterday morning. We expect to be making additional shipments later this week and next week. We expect to be fully caught up on these no later than 2 weeks from today."

I have emailed them about my order since it has been well past the 2 weeks, and no reply, only other email I received was this:

Mr. B********,

Mike sent an email out last week explaining that our order has been postponed 3 times already from the mint. We are gladly giving refunds to customers who can't wait. Its possible you never received the email. Mike sends an advertisement once a week. You are not the only customer waiting for the 2009 Pennies. Some have called for refunds and others said they will wait. We are not trying to scam anyone. Thanks. John

Mike's Coins

So I guess my question is
1. Has anyone dealt with this business?
2. If so have you ever received what you ordered or ever gotten a refund?

Sorry for such a long message....

-Hank

Keep in mind too........The "bank wrapped rolls" ie. Stringer rolls are being found to NOT contain all "Log Cabin" Cents........many of them are being found to be a "mixture" of old and new Cents.
So, I would open ALL Stringer rolls to make sure every one of them is a Log Cabin Cent !

Welcome to the Forum!

I don't understand why a website company would take orders for coins they were going to pick up at a local bank after release. That means that they now have no money tied up in the coins and have hundreds of customers $$... doesn't sound too professional to me.

MIKESCOINS? Uh oh... get a refund as soon as you can. I'll find you an old thread.

https://goccf.com/t/34493

Anyways, members here (including me) usually sell rolls from banks at face with shipping. Stay here and contribute long enough and you can reap the benefits.

And hey guys, this is the site of MikesCoins1. Does that ring any bells?

I apologize.. I suppose that really wasn't very helpful, nor really answer the question..

I agree with WD - get a refund as soon as you can. Also, do a search on this forum for this ebay seller and you will see more information than you ever wanted to know! And to the forum - we're glad to have you here!

STAY AWAY FROM MIKE'S COINS!

This guy sells stuff he doesn't even have and then ships it when ever he can get ahold of the product. I ordered from him him last year. "guaranteed delivery before Christmas" the ad said. I did get my stuff..........In late January.

tartop, if all you want is 1 roll I'll be glad to help out as soon as you get 50 posts. Just get your money back from those guys and I'll give you a much better deal.

Eaglefoot, Hope you are well, what is this about "some of the 2009-rolls have not all 2009's in some rolls", ?
I at ebay received some boxes of the P&D Minted coins, at 1st was not happy with the quality, now after opening 3-4 rolls, ahhhhhhhh, some very sweet BU'S,some actually have the counting machine rolling marks, but not all banged up as the first rolls I looked at.I never saw anything but the 2009's in the rolls, Now I read this?
I leave tommorow for the 2nd ceremony, 911 Miles.... "The Numismatic Woodstock"...Tartop, I have done some business with this group, I can not get them to stop sending "things on sale notices for this week" Just get a refund.........

My dealings with Mike were as a SELLER not a Buyer, I sent the coins to him, and after approx. 2 weeks he finally sent me his check, I deposited his check, and it BOUNCED !!, got an Email stating paypal had messed up, and it wasn't his fault, meanwhile it ended up costing me, for having to pay fees for checks written against his deposit, absolutely DISGUSTING, as an individual or business, it's YOUR responsibility to make sure you have the funds available if you write a check to someone, in essence what happened, he FLOATED a check to me, he gave me a check before funds were verified..My suggestion, and I tell EVERYONE this, get a refund and under NO circumstances do ANY business with Mike's Coins, it's my opinion he operates with Calous disregard and very questionable business practices

Since when is it necessary to have regard , or concern for other's while being a seller on E-Bay..." I think by now he should have the dignity to just stop doing any kind of business", WD1040, I used your quote to make a point, while your idea is a valid one, "Some" sellers on this venue, do not have a soul, much less Dignity, this is not to say there are not good sellers, I have personally dealt with some Fine people while hunting on this site, it is always the few who ruin the program for the rest! Buyer beware!!

PS: Is everyone ready to order the 2nd release Lincoln's from the Mint?... Two more days @12-noon!!

Hi,,First post,,and thanks for the reminder. I too ordered from Mikes coins, and never received my lincoln cents. I forgot about them, but just checked my confirmation email again, and it states that post office has received shipping information. It gave me a delivery confirmation, but that's it. It doesn't look like the post office ever received the package. I have written Mikes again. That was from Monday 4/20. Thanks for the post, and the reminder.

This will be the 3rd time I'm ripped off on these pre-orders for these lincolns cents. Little did I know that my credit card would not chase down crooks,,if my order was over 60 days old.

Take care,
Tom Urban
