Hello...
I am new to the site, and just got back into buying coins for my Grand kids when I am gone, anyhow back in Jan. I purchased 2009 Lincoln Roll/Rolls from a site called Mike's Coins it was a pre-sale purchase, they took my money from my CC and here it is about 4 mo. later and still no coins, now I realize the rolls sold out at the mint but when I check my order status for my order which says
**NEW** Bank Rolls 2009 BU Lincoln Log Cabin Pennies x1
I assumed meant a roll from the mint, but I guess not since an email I received from them awhile back 3-26-09 stated
"This email is going out to all customers, but only applies to people who bought the 2009 Lincoln Pennies. As you may be aware, the US Mint issued only a limited quantity of these pennies. The mint, like all circulating issues, was supposed to issue boxes through the Federal Reserve and then to member banks. We attempted to first go through our bank, which was promised boxes of these coins, but apparently they were unable to obtain them. Then, we went through the US Mint website directly to purchase them. The Mint apparently canceled our orders, as they apparently did to thousands of other people, and is now sold out of these.
Therefore we are going through private parties to obtain these coins to fill these orders. We have 150 rolls confirmed shipped to us at this point. This won't be enough to cover all of the shipments, so we will be shipping on a first come first serve basis, and will be actively looking for more of these rolls in the next couple of weeks.
In the meantime, if you need to cancel your order, please contact us and we will be glad to give you a refund.
These coins are still selling for as much as $20 a roll on
ebay. If you click the below link, it will take to a search page so you can see for yourself. We are committed to making sure you get the coins you ordered at the price you paid. We appreciate your patience and understanding while these delays are occurring.
Mike's Coins"
I actually received the message below on 3-11-09
"Thank you for choosing Mike's Coins!
We have received your payment and are currently
working on your order:
The order will be shipped to
H*** B********

********* PA 17***-****
This shipment will contain the following:
(1) Roll(s) 2009 Lincoln Log Cabin Pennies
If the package was shipped with a USPS tracking number it will appear below. You can check it by clicking the link below or by entering the number at USPS.com. If no tracking number appears the package will be shipped via .regular USPS first class mail.
The package's Delivery Confirmation ID is 420177019101805213907477939519"
When I check the number at USPS it says:
"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on March 11, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. No further information is available for this item."
On 4-14-09 I received this email from Mike's Coins:
"We wanted to give you an update on the Lincoln Log Cabin Penny rolls. This message is going out to all customers whether you bought these or not.
We are pleased to announce that the first shipments of these have left our office yesterday morning. We expect to be making additional shipments later this week and next week. We expect to be fully caught up on these no later than 2 weeks from today."
I have emailed them about my order since it has been well past the 2 weeks, and no reply, only other email I received was this:
Mr. B********,
Mike sent an email out last week explaining that our order has been postponed 3 times already from the mint. We are gladly giving refunds to customers who can't wait. Its possible you never received the email. Mike sends an advertisement once a week. You are not the only customer waiting for the 2009 Pennies. Some have called for refunds and others said they will wait. We are not trying to scam anyone. Thanks. John
Mike's Coins
So I guess my question is
1. Has anyone dealt with this business?
2. If so have you ever received what you ordered or ever gotten a refund?
Sorry for such a long message....
