I have been reading about how low the mintage is/was for the Puerto Rico 25 coin. I was thinking about it yesterday and decided to drop by BofA and see if the had some of them. To my surprise, the lady asked me how many rolls I wanted and or how many boxes I would like. She said she too has seen the low mintage #'s and wants to get them out into the public ASAP. I then asked her about the LP1 coins and she said that she is highly disappointed to see people "hoarding" these 1 coins. She said she will not sell any rolls of them and only gives them out in change.
All in all she seems like a really good contact to have for rolls of just about anything new, besides the LP's. I was thinking about going back after Memorial Day and getting a case of 50 coins and more qtrs.
What say y'all about the Puerto Rico 25 coins and low mintage #'s? You think they might be a sleeper coin?

The Puerto Rico "P" (53,200,000) is a significantly lower mintage than the "D" version (86,000,000). Both figures are fractions of the number of even the lowest mintage State Quarter(Oklahoma-D = 194,600,000). Succeeding Territorial Quarters may be even lower in mintage numbers. The lower mintages are ironically not as much of a factor for future 'collectibility' as would be the lower numbers of them distributed in BU bank rolls nationally as compared to the State Quarters, and less interest in/awareness of the new series from the general public (thus less saving of BU coins). I've been spending Territorial Quarters that I get from the Denver Mint, and a number of the cashiers were not even aware that they existed until they got my coins! I got a large coffee at McDonald's, and paid for it with eight Puerto Rico-D Quarters. The cashier was amazed when she looked at the coins. She did not know that they existed, and better yet she was born in Puerto Rico! I sold her a roll of them later that day (to her personally, not for the McDonald's drawer ...).

I have yet to see a Puerto Rico Quarter. I have asked at six banks and one credit union here in my town, and none of those institutions have any, or expect to have any.

Mine has them. The funny thing, they only have 2 rolls for the entire bank, so each value customer is allowed up to 4.

wd1040, that bank sticks...have you tried keeping just a few bucks with a couple different banks? That's what we do down here and it seems to work ok.

None of the other banks WF, BoA, Chase (which I see an ad at the bottom) have them. This is a local bank, and is always the bank that orders the new coins first.

Right now, nobody but HOLLYWOOD seems to have any 2009 Nickels or Dimes. I went to a coin show last weekend with over 100 vendors from eight states present, and no one had any 2009 Nickels or Dimes!

Still checking into the banks, and still no luck. I'll try again tomorrow.

I just got one in change at the coke machine downstairs at the barracks I'm staying at. It is a Denver, but still I found one.

The Tylers are the only '09 I've been able to get from my one bank. I was able to get 2 rolls of log cabins from the other. 09's are hard to come by around here.

I have found 3 DC quarters and nothing else from '09! Where are the dimes & nickles & such?

All I have seen are Harrison and DC quarters. No Tyler or Puerto Rico or Guam so far.
Zero pennies, nickels and dimes as well.

I am in the DC area and the only 09 coins I have received in change are the DC quarters - and only 2 of those. I hope to see the new pennies soon, but I would not be surprised if it takes several more months.
