Spence Moderator United States 34489 Posts	Posted 02/25/2025 8:26 pm I'd like to offer an alternate, fourth option: we know that this general region of the coin is often struck up weakly due to the majority of the metal flowing into the die to make Abe's bust. Perhaps this blank was a little bit light on metal and just didn't strike up as much as the mint would have liked. Greasy Fingers Pillar of the Community United States 7156 Posts	Posted 02/25/2025 9:37 pm This is a zinc core cent, therefore those "scrape" marks in order to remove the E would have exposed the core. Missing E makes me feel it was due to "grease" and the weak bottom part of the lettering in STATES is due to the "metal" being needed for the bust on the obverse.....That's how I see it...Lovely looking cent though Report this Post to the Staff
