 This was in a little box of WWII international coins inherited from my grandfather (who fought in the European theater). Looks like it was used as a button. It is even hammered concave.

Excellent, smat and Brandmeister! These coins get to see the light of day and be used again as opposed to languishing unloved and forgotten in a box.
