Interesting to see today's RAM issues available through EQL Ballot. If the mintage of a particular coin is "unlimited" why would it need to be made available through a ballot? Fair enough for coins that have limited mintage. The EQL system seems to be working well and is better than the releases prior to EQL involvement.

The 2026 Commbank Matildas $2 coin is listed as unlimited mintage but with a "product issue" of 25,000. Does that mean 25,000 will be issued on cards and there will be plenty of others released into circulation (like the previous Matilds coins)? Same for the tooth fairy kits/coins.

I wonder how many are already on ebay now?

A week after the release of the unlimited mintage Matildas $2 coins, the RAM is still trying to sell them for $15 each with a limit of three per person.

Meanwhile on ebay the same coins are selling for between $30 and $65 (plus postage).

What is going on? The coins were originally made available through EQL ballot. Now they are available online from the Mint. Obviously the ballot wasn't fully subscribed (why would you need a ballot for an unlimited mintage?).

I wonder what those people who bought through ebay are thinking now?

I wonder how many more junk items our RAM will keep churning out? Cardboard toys, plastic tea strainers, and 'coins' that attract better prices on ebay than they do direct from the Mint - what is going on?

I think they are quite chuffed with themselves for the great investment they made.
Obviously some people are plain stupid.
