Was thinking of bidding on this coin until I looked closely at the left obverse. Looked like it has some hairline scratches to me. What do you think?

I don't see the hairlines around god we trust on the mint image.

Thank You for This post,

In my opinion, I see what Could be Die Grinding Residuals, Check the coin for a Possible " clash " .

I do Not see that as a Random scratch.

Maybe someone can post an Overlay of the Obverse over the Reverse for Known clash strikes, Thanks

Is the coin advertised as "Unicrculated" or "About Uncirculated"? Based on the images, the coin appears to have a slight amount of wear/metal loss on the high points of each side.

Also, I do see a couple of lines/scratched near the "In God We Trust inscription.

IMO, nicer examples are out there.

coin not given any designation as uncirculated. Those lines by in god we trust really jump out when I zoom in on my computer. Bid was at 180 so I think I will have to pass.

I see a likely AU range coin with questionable obverse surfaces, specifically the left obverse fields around IGWT.

IMO there are much nicer California halves available.

Sure would be a good spot in a Dansco 7070 Type album.

I'm confused by your reply. Do you really have several of these?

The OP coin is an officially minted USA legal tender classic silver commemorative half dollar, authorized by an act of Congress and signed into law by the sitting President.

You can read about it here:

I suspect you have modern bullion silver pieces that might resemble the coin.

Your rounds may well be lovely but they are not the legal tender classic silver commemorative coin shown here.

Back to the Op's original statement - The lines you see are polishing marks from a mint worker trying to remove a defect on the die field (and creating more of them instead.)
