First, thanks everyone..
I'll get pictures of the cabinet and the drawers tomorrow. To describe it, the cabinet itself, looks to be an antique library cabinet (maybe?). The drawers themselves selves are not original to the cabinet but the drawer faces I believe are.
I picked it up at an antique store in Southern Indiana and brought it home. It definitely had that "old antique smell" and I spent quite a bit of time trying to rid it of that smell. Many different attempts none that worked very well.
I finally put the drawers back in and over time it became my overflow cabinet for when I ran out of room in my primary coin storage cabinet, a 1902 Hamilton Print sorting cabinet. This primary cabinet never carried an odor and I've had coins in this cabinet for decades with no toning at all so I was surprised when the coins I. The overflow cabinet showed the toning you've seen.
Tomorrow I'll get some pictures taken and posted.

Here are shots of a drawer and the cabinet itself. The drawer face I believe is original but the drawer itself was rebuilt for all of them. I'm fairly certain this is where the outgassing is as the smell of these drawers are bad. I'm sure the cabinet interior smells just as bad. Weird thing is when the drawers are closed you don't smell anything at all. The cabinet itself has been in this room since I purchased it probably 10 years ago now. Coins have only been in it the last couple of years however.

That's great information BadThad! Thank you!
I do use a dehumidifier and the room is well ventilated which is why you don't smell it when you walk into the room. The drawer boxes were made using plywood by the previous owner. Sounds like I could rebuild the drawers using the No Added Formaldehyde plywood or low VOC option. I might try to get the cabinet out into the garage this summer for few days to see if I can kill it off and then seal the plywood as described.
Nice to know I have some options!
