GTG 1884 O Morgan Dollar, Graded By NGC

The following Morgan dollar has been graded by NGC. I apologize in advance for my substandard photography. I fiddled with the lights for a long time in an attempt to pick up all of the surface imperfections, and believe that these photographs are as faithful to the coin as I could achieve. Feel free to state your best guess as to the grade of the pictured coin. Keep in mind that New Orleans Morgans of the era feature characteristic strike weakness in the center of the design on their obverses and reverses, and the coin in question is no exception.

I'm at 61/62. Looks like a lot of chatter on both sides.

never use an type of overhead lighting, it causes to much glare and washes out the surfaces. you did fairly good with the photos.

the 84(O) can exhibit some weakness but most are just average in strike. the strike issue years at N.O. are from 86 to 97

NGC gave this one the elusive MS60. I see it as a nice 60, but understand the grade given the excessive bag marks in the fields and on the cheek.
