Sellers pics. Contemplating making an offer. CCF, what are your thoughts on this one for possible inclusion in my raw CC set?

Obverse grades at Good, reverse grades at AG. If the price is good, I'd buy it.

This CC Morgan looks like an AG-3.

i think it would net to AG3 as well. the obv is quite nice. I agree if the price is right. some of the dark spots on the reverse might clean up a little with an acetone soak.

Appreciate the feedback, all. I was a little higher, was thinking net G4. Sellers not liking my idea on price so far. So may just pass on this one.

I hope for the best, but it is okay, you cannot win them all. If you pass on this, good luck on the next one.

The sharpness of the devices on both sides should be strong enough for a G-4/6, but the wear on the reverse rim seems disproportionate. I wonder if that was caused by some remote damage rather than circulation wear. Other than that, I don't see anything that would suggest a details grade. Probably best to pass if the price wasn't right.

Quote: I was a little higher, was thinking net G4. the obv is solid G4. if the reverse had a little less impingement on the lettering I think it would easily make G4

Quote: polishing marks near 9:00 on reverse also u suggested cleaning witch would 100% make it a details coin i see what you saw. imo, they are just from circulation for decades. if it was cleaned, there would be additional markers as for the acetone. thats not true. 100% acetone is inert and there is no components of it that will leave any residuals on the coin. it only removes organics. it will completely dissipate with no need to rinse or rub the coin with anything. I have used it on several coins over the years that graded straight. there is also another product called Verdicare, developed by a CCF member, that remove organics and protect the surfaces of coppers with no affect on the surfaces that would warrant a details designation.

Obv G-4 rev FR-AG probably AG, AG-3 net Reverse looks heavily worn possibly artificially, perhaps briefly a Dryer Coin or something.
