I only had time to photograph one coin (I'm leaving for the ANA seminar in Colorado), but I will post another one when I get back. It's not a small date in proof condition worth tens of thousands of dollars, but it is a large date graded F with a hole on the obverse.   Edited by TonysPics

Thats a nice one , other than the obvious.Ive yet to see a circulate one where the "WE" isn't completely gone.I got two recently , 1864 and 1869 , nowhere near as well preserved as that though.  |

 I have a couple of 2 cent pieces myself. I just can't seem to find any decent circulated ones with a strong motto. |

I spent a long time looking for one of these for my 7070. Mine looks similar to this one in grade - if you can see the "WE" at all you are doing good!
It's a nice looking coin - a shame someone got the drill out...

Its pretty odd that it seems perfectly drilled ..halfway.. is it possible that somebody had a display method of small pegs I wonder..in this way the coin could appear to be held in place even vertically,mounted in a frame maybe..a strange one.

I have noticed a few on ebay lately with rotated reverses. Is this fairly common? |

It's great to hear you are going to the Summer Seminar. I'll miss it this year because of the economy so I envy you. What class are you taking?

I'm taking the photography class. I'm using a computer in Loomis Hall to get online. Today was the first day of class but it was only 3 hours and was mainly an overview of photography equipment and introducing yourself.

Tough coins to grade due to motto weakness and striking issues. I believe the TPGs take this into account rather heavily. Without the hole I would put the 1864 in the F15 range and the 68 is a solid G4 even with the central wear and wear on the reverse. I saw an 1867 at a show years ago graded MS64RB by NGC. It had virtually NO WE in the motto. |
