I recently bought this from a dealer at a local coin show. Opinions please.

I can't. I put it in my SD Box earlier today. Perhaps I should get it back out and repost the thread.

When you take it out of the holder for better pictures, make sure to wear gloves when handling it. You don't want to get fingerprints on it.

Not sure if I should take it out. I intend to try to return it to the dealer and I dont want him saying I switched it out with another coin.

Looks to be a nice piece. Would love to see photos of obverse and reverse. At this point, you could just leave it in the 2x2.

Not sure why you want to return it. It looks like a pleasing example.

You should ask for help on confirmation of it's authenticity. There's lots of smarter folks on here than me. I'd like to know. I hope and pray I haven't fallen for any fakes. D**n the Chinese! Good luck.

Ah, I see, you suspect it may be fake. Most definitely need better eyes on it. Or take it out of the 2x2, but I understand why you might not want to.

Here is a closer pic. Sorry abt the shaky hand on the rev pic but I cant get it clear. The only thing that stands out to me is the date. Way too thin and way too much clarity for an orig 1919. I have looked at it with my 8x loupe and I now believe it to likely be an altered date on an authentic SLQ. Even has a weak obv die clash which points away from counterfeit.

I agree, the date looks highly suspect.

Date is completely wrong, the 1's should be basically capital I's with stubby triangular serifs, whereas these 1s have a triangular flag on top and well defined rectangular serifs at bottom. Also, some of the drapery looks out of shape, at least from what I can tell from the pics. Probably a complete fake from counterfeit dies. A refund is definitely the move here.
