That seems to be a German (maybe swedish?) medal, but what exact it is, I am not too sure except it might seem to be some sort of routes in the country.

Well mate; old bill at best can be a touch cryptic. Try this ....
"No, I didn't clean coins; just soaked medalion in vinegar!", when asked.
Then later on after looking thru' umpteen coins he gave me to check, one thing soon became clear - Bill told me porkies!
On the 'phone later I chastised Bill for giving coins a rub, but he was still adamant(no, not the rocker) he never did it. So I gave Bill an out with, "Did you have some-one else take a squiz at these coins before me?"
The answer was of course Yes and we're still friends - haleluja!

The German 5 mark has been copied by the Beijing group - they are identified by the rough fields on the coins. They were copied with a fine grained plastic (like a dental plastic) but the dies produced copied some minor sirface damage. All copies I have seen come from the same original host. I second the idea that the source of the coin has to be 100% guaranteed to be sure you have an original.

I bend to your wisdom, but surely 100+ years under floorboards and on top of who-knows-what kinda soil matter would greatly affect original condition anyway! So how can we ever be sure ... short of calling in CSI ? I do know however, where coin was found can be 101% established..! Cheers, |
