Gary Burke Rest in Peace United States 3730 Posts	Posted 07/18/2009 02:08 am DNA, Last time I was in the Denver Mint gift shop, I had to be escourted through the mint itself in order to reach the shop. Is that still the case, or is there now an easier access? I'll be in Denver in a week, and plan a visit. Just curious how easy it will be to enter the gift shop. Report this Post to the Staff

DNA Pillar of the Community United States 2734 Posts	Posted 07/18/2009 10:10 am Gary, the Gift Shop has its own entrance, just south of the Main entrance where you start the tour. In the summer there's usually a coin dealer or two with a cart set up right by the gift shop entrance. The Denver Mint Gift Shop has been selling encased Presidential dollars since 2007. Those are sometimes called "Presidential Oath Dollars", because the outer ring has the text "Preserve, Protect and Defend the Constitution". The Encased Coins are sold only by the Denver Mint Gift Shop, in person. (so that they are a unique souvenir for those who have visited the Denver Mint). I had no idea that they were going to sell encased 2009 Cents. I love the outer ring design on the obverse! Report this Post to the Staff
Jays-Dad Pillar of the Community United States 790 Posts	Posted 07/18/2009 4:59 pm I'd love to tour a mint too, but every time I go on vacation I go with my wife and she would definitely veto a mint visit. I did get to tour the New Orleans mint. I also got to go through the BEP facility in Fort Worth (they got really cool buses that drive you to the actual facility that have US currency printed on the side). Report this Post to the Staff
