When putting together a Type set, What was your inspiration for which coin to add.
Was the decision based solely on grading or convenience, Or was it because of being the first or last of a particular mint type(or key dates).
Or maybe date specific (personal life reasons)

When I bought my type set book, it had quite a few proofs in it.
I know for my budget, nothing but Proofs will be impossible to acquire. I might just consider getting as many proofs as I can for the set.
I'm not sure how I may progress in compiling the rest of my set.
Most likely it will be on a first come first fill basis (for now)
Rest in Peace

Are you talking early proofs, or modern proofs? Modern proofs are fine(I consider modern proofs post 1945). Be careful if you intend to put early proofs in a Dansco. They are rare and valuable, and you run the risk of hairlining by putting them into an album if they are of a high grade. I only have one early proof in my dansco type set, an 1882 Seated dime. It was graded PR-61 that was already quite hairlined.

As far as inspiration is concerned, it boils down to what I like and what is priced right for the quality/eye appeal. The most important thing for you is adding coins that YOU like and make the set whatever you want it to be. If you set standards for yourself, such as grade/date/problem status etc, than that will help you narrow down your decisions.

I think everyone should make 3 7070s.

One with the earliest date possible for the type,

one with the latest date and,

thirdly, one for the key coins of every type.

(Good Luck! That'll keep you busy!!)

when I first started my 7070 I decided I would try to either get the first or last date for the series but after looking and looking for coins in my grade range I could afford I finally decided to just get what ever would fill the hole as long as it was problem free and atleast AU-50
