Gold Buffalo - MS Or PF ?

I'm not very knowledgeable in gold coinage.....but I do really want to get the 2009 $50 gold buffalo. Need some advise here.

First, am I correct that the MS will not be sold by the mint and only through distributors ? and the proof is coming out this week via the Mint right ?

Second, any guess which will have the lower mintage ? the MS or PR ?

Only two versions of the 24kt Buffalo will be produced this year- the standard bullion version only sold by dealers and the proof version sold by the Mint. Neither will have a particularly large mintage since it is so late in the year but the main difference will be initial price point.

According to Numismatic News, 71,500 bullion Buffalos were released through the dealer network in the first four days of availability. APMEX currently has the 2009 bullion Buffalos listed at $1,129.49. The Mint has not imposed any purchasing limits on the proof Buffalo but the predicted selling price for the Oct 29 release will be $1360(comes with a nifty hardwood box). New for this year is a matte proof finish instead of the polished finish.
