These coins are from my deceased father in laws collection and my wife and I are to meet with a dealer tomorrow as she would like to sell them. I realize they are key dates but numismedia and the RedBook don't really help me when getting down to the brass tacks of selling. I also realize that dealers will not normally pay more than bid. Any help would be appreciated.
Someone here 'might' have that info here on the Peace & Morgan dollar VAMs forum Dave, but I think that your chances of a more expeditious response will come if this thread could be moved to the Classic US coins forum or the US coins and Currency Discussion Forum.
Davest, the market for dealers from your perspective is a little soft. Don't be surprised if the offer is 20 or 30 percent back of bid. Here are some numbers to ponder. 93CCVG=200/220; 95SVG=360/400; 95OVG=250/275; 28EF=355/380. nlp
Good info by nlp. I might add that even though these are some nice dates, the silver dollar market is a bit soft from the feedback I've heard from local dealers. It's going fine for the cheap, common circulated dollars, but the better dates and grades aren't selling as well. So don't be surprised if the offer is even lower, depending on your dealer's current inventory and customer base.
