I suspected that some of the Proof and Silver Proof Sets I bought from ebay was cleaned before they sell them as BU. Jbuck & Biochemist, can a cleaned coin be detected easier by stronger lens or even a microscope? There is one microscope that can be hooked to computer to take a picture in the screen and store it in the hard disc, that I considered. I am willing to invest the money if it is make it easier to detect.
Oh boy, this is what I am afraid of, I am going to be a perfectionist, looking for the best collection. I promised to stop at UNC, period, when I started this US collection.

The closer you get, the more you can see; so the short answer is yes. As what to specifically look for, I cannot offer much advice since I usually do not go beyond personal eye appeal. Since I never intend to sell the coin, I always try to keep in mind that I am the one that has to be happy with it.

This may change as I get down to the key dates in my albums, since I will be making much closer examination for authentication purposes.
