Hi all!

Hoping to get some input on this coin. Obverse looks pretty good, reverse looks a little more worn. What's your call?

Very difficult call, given how hard Peace dollars are to accurately grade, and the relatively small pics. The two places I look first when attempting a Peace dollar: The hair, just above and behind the eye (the hair behind the eye - draw a line over from the eye and down from the "E" - is where the first wear happens, but also where strike weakness obfuscates things); and the eagle's shoulder, exactly where the mark is on yours. The feather details at that point start disappearing almost immediately when the coin circulates.

I won't do the AU/BU decision based on such small images, but my gut tells me this one is Uncirculated. 63-ish?

I would say MS63 as well. The pictures aren't good enough to completely rule out a slider, but you can see some detail on the shoulder all the way to the edge and the hair looks to be clear of marks.
Rest in Peace

63+ IMO. I thought 64 at first but the mark on the eagle's shoulder is pretty major. Nice coin

I am no good at Peace dollar grading but my first thought when I saw the coin was MS-63. I have a real hard time differentiating between AU and BU Peace dollars because most of them are so weakly struck

Thank you for the grading. I figured it may be a weak strike with a little wear. Also thank you for explaining how you came up with that.

I'll say 63 looks to have nice luster but is kept back from 64 due to the strike and some distracting marks
