I've signed up with the scotia marcotta (something like that) but they charge some ridiculous fees along with the bullion.
i think they called it operational fees or banking fees, as well as shipping too!
Banks always looking to get their hands on the piece of a pie!

I woudl not buy from scotia bank. I signed up for for the Scotia mocotta, or whatever it was, and on top of the cost of the bullion was shipping costs, as well as some bank operating fees or something ridiculous like that.
Try finding a local dealer instead. Much better deal. Currently the wolves are 40.50 each with spot at 34.65, so I imagine the grizzlies will be roughly the same.

I have in the past purchased gold maple leafs from Scotia Mocotta in person in downtown Toronto (King St). There was a ton of paperwork to fill out and some rediculous "bank fees". They also charge you in US dollars (not much of an issue these days). Oh, and they also wanted my SIN for whatever reason.
A local coin dealer is the way to go.

Haha, thanks vinnycoin and twoplustwo. I should have known! I phoned up one of the dealers downtown but they told me they do not deal with bullion coins, only commemorative. I was a little surprised because they claimed to be an authorized RCM dealer. I found them on the RCM website afterall. After doing a little research it seems my best bet is kitco. They have their head office where I live (in Montreal) so I'm assuming I could avoid some nasty shipping costs by going in person. I will call them up and see if this is possible. Thanks again guys.

oops double post. Nickelhafldime, where in Canada are you located? I have two RCM dealers, one does sell bullion, the other just commemoratives and what not. @Canadacoins, I just noticed the moose you posted on the first page. Is this part of the seires?

I live in Montreal. I made a suggestion about perhaps checking if Kitco will sell the coin to me. My research tells me they have their headquarters here in Montreal. If they have the coins in stock I may be in luck! What do you think? Oh, I was also wondering where that Moose coin came from until I stumbled across the answer by accident recently. It's part of the Coin/Stamp series released by the RCM. Here is an example: http://www.colonialacres.com/cgi-bi...tem=04_stamp

It would be awesome if kitco would be able to sell to you direct. I'm saving up to buy a bunch of kooks and koalas with a friend to save on the shipping.
And Thanks for the source of the moose!

Yes Vinny, as Nickle stated it is part of the Coin/Stamp series. Price of $200 seems a bit high though.

On the Mint's facebook page the coin is supposed to be released by distributors on March 14th.

It's weird that the bank wanted your SIN for that. Back when I was still interested in buying at $18-22 level, I went to RBC to try and order some ounces. It turns out that they were over $25-7, plus a fee plus a waiting period for it to be delivered. That's an incredible markup, and I'd hate to know what it is today.
Moral of the story: buy privately.
On top of that, if you want to sell them back to the bank (at a loss, NO DOUBT) they must have their bank's insignia stamped on the Maple Leaf. How backwards is that?!

Libertad, do you mean that the bank will only take maple leafs that they previously had in possession? Not sure what you mean with the stamped insignia.
Very interesting info none the less. I deal with RBC and was going to ask if they take bullion.
As for the Grizzly update, my local dealer website now has the grizzly listed, with a "coming soon!" as price, so it should be very soon now! 10 limit per customer just like the wolves, so I am assuming they will be thermatron sealed strips.

My local dealer was expecting them in stock yesterday, but they've been delayed until Saturday morning. He's only getting 200 coins.. I think I'll need to pay him a visit on Saturday or risk him running out!
