The RCM just released the latest 25 cents in this birds series. Although the images have looked like pictures you see in newspapers since my wife just loves them I had to give in. Besides, this latest coin seems promising.

Compare the new 25 cents with the 2008 release. Did the Mint improve the printing process? I'll check it out when I receive it and let you know...

Mintage is set to 14,000 - as per the 2010 releases both of which have sold out.

Nice barn swallow! Is it the same artist as before C_C? I am blocked from seeing the webpage. The artist name would be Arnold Nogy?

Edit: Never mind, I see the initials.

Wow, that's so much nicer. The other bird coins looked TERRIBLE in person.

If it's that good, it's not bad. I've pulled in a number of the pixelated versions from lots I've bought and I never felt like I was doing a bad thing by selling them.

I really like the artists work. Last year I asked about the quality of the coins and the general consensus of the forum was the printing process was poor. I really wanted to get some to keep or give away but didn't want to risk being disappointed. Looking forward to seeing a picture of the actual coin C_C.

Personally, I think the picture on the web was enhanced or it may even be 100% artificial. Just like the 2011 UNC set coins.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

thanks for the comparison CC

I did take a look at them at my local dealer. They didn't look too bad from afar (closest I could get behind the display). But definitley not as detailed up close.
