Two of the rounds I had in my Bullion pieces thread were from "Liberty Mint." I'm wondering if there is any relationship between Liberty Mint and the American Liberty Dollar. These pieces that I have from liberty mint are more than 10 years before the first American Liberty Dollars, but the inscription on the back makes me wonder if possibly the "Liberty Mint" or it's owners/operators were a part of the "Liberty Dollar" movement. Here's a few pics: Liberty Mint, "Liberty" round Liberty Mint, USS Constitution round I'm just curious about the history of some of these pieces I have.

While the sympathies of the people that bought these rounds may have been analogous to those of NORFED supporters, the immediate precursor to the Liberty Dollar was the "Royal Hawaiian Mint", the company through which von NotHaus marketed his Hawaiian tourist dollars. The Liberty Mint is still around.

One difference is that NORFED pieces were marked with an actual monetary value and these are not.

Liberty Mint was a general purpose private mint in Provo Utah...they went out of business and the name is being used by someone else now. Royal Hawaiian Mint and NORFED had their pieces struck by Sunshine Mint...another general purpose private mint...who supplies the US Mint with gold and silver blanks as well.

The one if have was minted in 1985. I think Norfed came online around 1996. So I believe John has it right. No connection, though, as has already been stated.

Mine shows no date. Also, it has the head pic down to the throat area...not a full body pic. Does this mean it is older or newer?

Since it says, "Millennial", perhaps it was made circa ~2000? Not sure.

I found it in 1993...at an old/abandoned country school yard.
Any further thoughts?
