I was thinking that there might be a opportunity to buy some Ike dollars or Ike sets at a good price right now.

But is anyone buying and selling these for silver/melt

How much is silver is in a 40% Ike?

I think I could pick up a couple complete Ike sets, but is silver
at a point where people are wanting them more?

What are some of your thoughts?

Wow .. I was thinking they might be gettig up that high, but then
what are people getting when they sell them?

I know where are couple sets are, that I think I could get for
$100 or less. A set has 10 silver Ike's and 22 clads.

Ten silver at 11.28 sounds like a deal even if they are circulated

I will check out one of the sets tomorrow ... I know two shops that have a set .. and I know they
did not pay much for them .. and I think they want to move them. it will all depend on if they
think about how much silver is in them.

The 73 silver proof is worth 25-35 by itself easy, I highly doubt you can get a whole set of ikes for $100 or even close to it.

I may be way off .. but would bet I I am pretty close.

You have me curious .. what do you think would be a good price
or such a good price you could not refuse it?

Ikes, even the clads, are getting collectible (as they should be). Routine, circulated business strikes brought $3 each at the auction I went to last week. The dealer that bought my silver a few weeks back wouldn't touch my clad Ikes for any price..."not interested".

Went to one shop ..feeling them out on one of their sets .. I am a little off on the price.
They were looking to get $160- $170.
But with a little talking they might be interested in selling at $125

That one is a complete Dansco, all UNC's and proofs. Only thing I saw was who ever they got
it from put a 74 S BU in the proof hole. All others, including the 73 S proof are in there.

I put one together last year, not sure if I need another. But I might jump on it.
Rest in Peace

On ebay I'm getting around $18.00 to $18.50 for a pair of the brown box ikes 1971,1972. No box or paperwork sold as bullion with the hazing issue. This is the most I have gotten for them. Over the last couple of months I have gotten as low as $14.00 a set. They are all gone as of last week. I also sold the unc blue envelope ikes for around $8.00 to $10.00 each in the last month or 2. So people really wont pay melt for the 40% ikes. What they are paying for over melt is bars, rounds and eagles in silver.
