It's tarnish and it's pretty. What more do you need to know? I hope you're not going to answer you're looking for permission to like it.

Wow, it looks like the sun is setting behind the Eagle, giving it a Rainbow glow, Fading into the outer Blue ring Sky.
Awesome toned coin.
Is/Was this artificially done?

that's the first thing that came to my mind too.If it's natural toning that's a great one and will have a very nice value added to it.Very nice biggfredd

Oh, that's right, sorry, I forgot about that issue.

Biggfredd, you see, it comes down to this. If a major TPG, in its infinite wisdom, says that tarnish is "artificial toning," then, you do not have permission to like it. OTOH, if the major TPG, in its infinite wisdom, says that tarnish is "natural toning," then, by all means, you not only do have permission to like it, you have permission to pay moon-money for it, as well.

That's how it goes, really. I don't know what I could have been thinking.

Keep the comments coming, including values if you like (1999, other side white). Have fun, there are no wrong or right answers.

Very cool. I'd also be curious to know if it's natural or artificial.

It is utterly gorgeous.

By the definition I personally hold regarding artificial/natural toning (and, in the end analysis, it's up to our own opinion), the toning cannot possibly be natural. Would I own it? Oh, yeah I would. Would I pay a premium for it? No - I can make them myself pretty easily.

Toning is toning...doesn't matter if it is AT or NT.

And I like the tone of that coin

FWIW, there is no definition. "Artificial toning" is a purely arbitrary and capricious term. If you want to make it a standard you judge toned coins by, that's, of course, your prerogative.
