Question I saw in the 2011 RedBook they have 2 each 2006 W $50.00 gold Buffalo coins listed one being a Reverse proof.

I noticed that my two 2006 Gold buffalo coins the front of the coin is one way and the buffalo on the back is upside down from the front is this normal.

What I mean is looking at the front the Indian is say head up when you rotate the coin over the buffalo is feet up is this what they mean by reverse proof?

No. The Buffalo is upside down to the obverse. I believe a reverse proof would mean the indian and buffalo were mirror like and the background would be frosty. I never knew that they made any gold Buffaloes that way, but you never know.

Ok I am very observant been looking at coins for 62 years and really never thought that all the coins heads and tales are opposite?

Looked at some Kennedy halves laying on my table same then cents same well I just never thought about them being like that

Thanks for the reply these two are NGC PF70 was going to sell them about a year and a half ago and get silver did not care no one bought them from the coin forum never use ebay anyway glad they did not sell now as they have more than doubled in value since I bought them in 2006.

Gold Buffaloes are WAY better than money in the bank.

You would have been better off if they sold and you bought silver actually. The silver would be worth more than double.

I've never heard of a Gold Buffalo reverse proof. I think are might be mistaken, not only on the alignment issue but also on the fact that reverse proof gold buffs were made.

Wow, a proof Buffalo is the creme Dela creme of gold coins IMO, what a masterpiece. When I gaze upon it, I see rays of sunlight in the background, and if I listen real close, I swear I could hear angels singing....
