This coin had at most 500 examples minted, thought I've seen 250 or less as a likely number too. It is BU and excellent, except for a few tiny copper spots. It is about 1.5 ounces total weight with an actual gold weight of 1.4015 troy ounces.
So, what is your opinion...
1 spot gold price
2 spot plus a small premium
3 spot plus a nice big premium because this thing is so rare and nice!
4 Eww, no way I'd give you spot for that! You'd be lucky to get 90-95%!
I know this isn't a true poll, but I want replies, not just a click from the anonymous...
Thanks!

It's not grabbing me, so I would say spot. I'm sure someone out there is looking for one and might pay a big premium, but it looks more like a round and not a real coin. The design looks almost unfinished. What does the other side look like?

Since the spot price of gold has gone up so much that it has probably passed the numismatic value. I would say melt plus a small premium since it is actually a proof coin. Krause shows it has a mintage of 250. I just don't think there are many people who collect Bahamas coins as most of them were minted by the Franklin Mint to the best of my knowledge.

The premium over bullion value would really an expression of it's numismatic value in the market place.

Let us say the numismatic value is $100.

If it were silver, the silver value would be roughly $50. The coin would have value of $150.

With gold at $1500 /oz., bullion value is $2,100, total value $2,200.

Like anything else, it is still worth what a buyer is prepared to pay.

This photo is simply a scan, and not too good obviously.
I'll get some better photos of both sides and post them here...
Thanks for the opinions so far!

So, Here are two pictures, plus I found a little more info.
The mint was Stuttgart, Germany, and maximum mintage was 250. Also, you can see in the photo that there is just a bit of "haze" on the obverse, but it doesn't appear to be from handling. You can see the copper spot on the reverse better in this picture too. What you can't see, due to my lack of skill in photography, is the nice cameo proof finish.
So?

It looks like carbon spotting or something that is distracting in multiple places. Columbus may have sailed the ocean blue in 1492, but the white man had all ready been in the Americas 500 years prior to him. Melt

Thanks for the help everyone,
I've decided on asking just a bit over spot/melt...less than $100. I'll see what happens, but I just can't let it go for less than that yet!

With gold continuing to rise have you sold this coin? Also, I hope you got a big fat premium for it and proved us all wrong.
