i disagree, prices are inflated on ebay

The best dealer is you local one.

Online, there are a number. APMEX have good deals from time to time but shipping and payment fees are considerable for smaller purchases.

SilverGoldBull is a Canadian one that has great service, ships fast, and real time changes in price so you can become neurotic and refresh until you fingers bleed. But variety is limited and premiums slightly higher.

J&M is another Canadian one, unbeatable prices but uses archaic ordering/payment/shipping practices. Level of service depends on which sales you end up talking to, and they are very Very slow with processing anything. Again though, awesome prices.

Hope that helps, from a not so new newbie to another
Rest in Peace

SilverTowne is a good place to buy silver bullion. I have done so a few times and have always had good results. I like the free shipping on Internet purchases of their 5-oz. bars. Also like that I can use a VISA card without extra charges being applied. They ship quickly and always seem to have a good supply of what I want.

Provident Metals is also pretty good but tend to be "out of stock" more often than they should be, IMO. If they have what you want, the price is usually pretty good and they charge less to ship than APMEX does.

APMEX is also good, especially if you want specific 90% US silver coins. I got some gorgeous Walking Liberty halves from them at a reasonable price. Also got some very nice Kennedy proof halves. I've also purchased some ASEs from them and that worked out well enough. I usually pay by check and they delay shipping for several days because of that. No real reason to but that is their policy.

I haven't purchased any PMs other than silver so can't comment on Au, Pt, or Pd.

A good local dealer is a great asset to any collector. Unfortunately, lots of places either do not have a local dealer or the local dealer isn't very good. I also have a couple of local dealers who are pretty good and I shop there as much as I can. One is a coin shop and the other is a pawn shop. Both work well for me and I often get 90% silver bullion coins at spot from the pawn shop and slightly above spot at the coin dealer. The only problem is that neither of these places carries what I like in bulk, so it is off to the Internet for my bigger purchases.

Silverdale, WA, huh? Wow. I never heard of that town, even though I have been in the Poulsbo area a couple of times. I'm in Vancouver, WA.

I like Silvertowne's service. No bull good business like communication. I have bought and sold with them and they are very smooth.

So what does your local dealer ask over spot for bullion, eagles, etc.....? As compared to APMEX, Silvertowne, etc....?

Yeah, it is different. I haven't really looked the new site over enough to know if it is an improvement.

I really like it. It's a LOT easier to navigate around in and find the things that are of interest than the old site was.

I have to agree, check your local dealer first.

I have been wanting a couple 1 oz. Maples in Silver for a while. I checked e-bay for days and put about 20 auctions on my "watch" list. The cheapest Maple went for $37 and that was before shipping, insurance, etc. Went by my local dealer and picked up two nice maples,(1989 w/young queen, and 1995...year of my daughters birth), both sealed in plastic for $4 over spot,(that was at about $32 that day). After tax, Walked out w/two nice maples for under $75....... try that on e-bay!

I am going to try my local coin/bullion dealer.I talked to him and got his number. When I want to buy, just give him a call, pay 5 over spot and he will deliver once a month. Payment on delivery. He also said he will buy them back when silver gets to 100. Silver Maples are the way to go.
