1952 D/S Quarter? Legit? - Coin Community Forum

Imthealphaomega Pillar of the Community United States 3210 Posts	Posted 09/07/2013 7:31 pm I am a new user who started coin collecting earlier this year. I buy silver coins from a precious metals dealer and came across a 1952 Washington quarter with a weird mint mark. I normally wouldn't buy it since I have the 1952, 1952d, and 1952s, but this drew my eye and you can't argue buying it for like 3 bucks. Was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a 1952 quarter with a D/S mintmark? I had a jeweler friend of mine take a look with his magnifying glass and he saw something off as well. numismo Rest in Peace United States 3039 Posts	Posted 09/07/2013 9:06 pm A must closer picture is a must. Remember, don't believe everything you see written on a 2x2 or even printed in a slab. Research & learn for yourself. Also, not everything that looks weird on a coin is an error. A few people on this site are inundating it with supposed "errors" and won't take the experts' word for it that it is not. The site is a great learning resource. Actually there is a 50 D/S and a 50 S/D quarter. I'm sure you'll find pictures of them on the web. Buy all you can for $3. Imthealphaomega Pillar of the Community United States 3210 Posts	Posted 09/07/2013 9:10 pm I am the one who put the coin in the flip and wrote the stuff on it (I do it for all of my coins to keep them organized), I bought the coin for silver price, which I got the better deal. I have a friend who has a good camera and has a good magnifier, I will ask for his help with photos from now on. Report this Post to the Staff
