Identify Unknown Coin - Coin Community Forum

baric New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 10/23/2013 8:53 pm Hi all. I'm a new member here, so be gentle. A few years ago, this coin showed up in some change and I have never been able to identify it. The coin looks more primitive than a modern issue but I can't identify the script. The style is vaguely reminiscent of older coins from Thailand/Siam. The color is dark, not sure of the composition although I'd guess copper. The edge is milled but not fine like a modern mill-grain, each indent is a small arc. The coin is 2mm thick and 2.5cm in diameter. I don't have a digital scale so I'm unsure of the weight. The obverse is a right facing bust with some sort of crown or hat. The face is round and the clothes look like some sort of full robe or cloak. On either side of the bust is a short line of script, perhaps a name or date. The reverse is a 3-masted sailing ship, on water, no writing or script that I can discern.
