DBro New Member Canada 2 Posts	Posted 06/02/2014 11:46 am I'm wondering if anyone can help with this coin I found in my change. It's a 1952 - 2002 P quarter, which in my best guess, has had the nickel plating either come off, or it was never applied in the first place. It has the look of a worn penny, with the brownish â€" copper colour. Based on wear, it appears to be softer than a normal quarter. It also appears to be slightly thinner than a normal quarter. It's definitely magnetic (a fridge magnet picks it up). I'm unsure about the weight as I'm unable to find my scale. Can anyone help with this? I've attached a couple of pictures. Wade Pillar of the Community Canada 2784 Posts	Posted 06/02/2014 3:18 pm I don't think its thinner than the quarter, just the rounded edges giving that optical illusion. accurate weight and better pictures are going to help a lot. deep copper colored and magnetic ? Report this Post to the Staff

Chances are good its just PMD but if it was missing a layer of nickel plate then you would see copper plate showing through and steel underneath it all. And possible weak collar die deployment.
