I'm wondering if anyone can help with this coin I found in my change. It's a 1952 - 2002 P quarter, which in my best guess, has had the nickel plating either come off, or it was never applied in the first place.

It has the look of a worn penny, with the brownish â€" copper colour. Based on wear, it appears to be softer than a normal quarter. It also appears to be slightly thinner than a normal quarter. It's definitely magnetic (a fridge magnet picks it up). I'm unsure about the weight as I'm unable to find my scale.

Can anyone help with this? I've attached a couple of pictures.

I don't think its thinner than the quarter, just the rounded edges giving that optical illusion.

accurate weight and better pictures are going to help a lot.

deep copper colored and magnetic ?

to CCF.
I agree some better pics might help. Chances are good its just PMD but if it was missing a layer of nickel plate then you would see copper plate showing through and steel underneath it all.
And possible weak collar die deployment.
Just my opinion.

Weight is important, if you can't dig up your scale try the local PO.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I will post some additional pics tomorrow when I have a little more time. There is a scuff mark (damage) that is on it that I took a pic of. It's on the first E of ELIZABETH. Are there specific pics you would like to see?
