All the people cleaning it with things like Comet ..... I dont see the point of collecting coins if you just ruin them. I do understand that you do want them to look clean and in mint condition, then what you should do is buy those coins they sell on tv and come in a box of some sort. Yes you guys are just thinking of yourself when you guys past it on the next collector will not be to happy.

I prefer to use hand scrub with a wire brush or brillo pad. If neither are available I'll settle for a pumice stone. :)

Just put in your rock tumbler for a couple of days. It will make it nice and shiny.

Is this a joke? I NEVER clean my coins! Not even if they are so dern dirty! I would never put 'em in a rock tumbler or use a brillo pad!

Yes MichioKaku, This was said with tongue in cheek. I probably shouldn't have said it. Someone might actually try it.

It is all so simple. Just contact the Chinese government and ask them if you could send them those Nickels. Then they could melt them down and make new ones for you. And for the right price, any date you want on them. See, simple.

Comet and a paper towel make an excellent exfoliant. My wife uses it all the time... (don't tell her I told you)

I don't own one seems like this would work good on those all black silver morgans or ultra sonic cleaner might be better all though I took a coin to the local jeweler and they said if you can't rub off with a rag a ultra sonic cleaner would not get it clean either. I had received a set of old coins in a display box when I was small it had nice shiny old coins, but after 35 years the Indian Head penny has turned brown and the other coins have lost there shine just by time.

If you want it to look new, what I would do is sell it, and then spend a little bit more money to buy one that looks nicer than the one you have.
